Susie Skinner is a storyteller who works with theatre and music. She graduated from Flinders University Drama Centre in 1995. Susie was a guest at the 5th International Women’s Playwrights Conference 2000 in Athens, and subsequently developed and wrote a handful of plays with and for communities. Ensemble member of The Yashchin Company she performed in the award winning adaptation of I Only Came to Use the Phone by Gabriel Garcia Marquez at the 2008 Adelaide Fringe. Bass player with Problem Pony, a country/folk/blues 4-piece, Susie performed at the 2005 Adelaide Cabaret Festival and 2006 National Folk Festival. She was the Artistic Director of D’faces of youth arts in Whyalla, South Australia from 2007 to 2010. In 2011 Susie was a performance mentor for Big hARTs Yijala Yala project in the Pilbara. In 2012, in collaboration with Country Arts SA and Puntum Inc, Susie produced her first solo, A Wake, for Kumuwuki -The National Regional Arts Conference in Goolwa. In 2014 she spent a month on a river boat on The Murray River and produced, Whole of the Moon, for Country Arts SA major work This is a River. Susie’s love affair with The River culminated in 2016 when she directed Murray the Musical for the community of Milang. Susie is the music teacher at Catherine House Women’s Shelter.
