Oratunga Residency – November 2015
Artists: Sarah Neville, Matthew Thomas and family
Weather Lore is based on observation of the environment and the impact that changes in the weather have on insects, animals, birds and people. At Oratunga, we sought to uncover weather lore, both ancient and futuristic, indigenous and pastoral through conversations with locals. Via shared meals, cups of tea, tours and personal observations we uncovered the stories that thread the community together.
This artistic residency at the Oratunga sheep station in the Flinders Ranges is our third annual pilgrimage to places that speak to us about critical changes in the weather. With ears to the ground we follow leads on emergent stories and sayings about the weather in times of climate change.
