Sarah is a performance maker who devises new media dance, instigates inter-disciplinary practices and invests in multi-platform processes and production outcomes. She is interested in revealing multi-facetted dramatic analogies through contemporary performance to connect ideas, people and cultures whilst honoring difference. Her artistic practice is grounded in the art of designing movement to communicate concepts and stories of the world; contemporary concerns, age old mythologies and futuristic prophecies.
In the 90’s Sarah studied Butoh dance with Kazuoh Ohno and Min Tanaka in Tokyo and was a member of Butoh based multinational, multimedia performance unit 66B. In AustraliaSarah founded Heliograph Productions, a highlight for this company included Calculus of the Nervous System for The Adelaide Festival. Independently, Sarah has created work for Adelaide Fringe, Ausdance Choreolab, Dance House, Australian Choreographic Centre, ADT’s Ignition season, Strut Dance and Link Dance Company (WAAPA). Professional development has taken her to Robert Wilson’s Watermill Centre, Sarai New Media Lab, FACETS dance and technology choreographic lab and a mentorship in physical theatre in Spain. Sarah was a member of Australian/ Spanish physical theatre company Corazon De Vaca, founder of Kite Dance Theatre.
