TECH MATE explores the creative and messy world of installation and spatial art practices from a child’s perspective. Tech Mate invites children between the ages of 6 and 12 into an object filled space to creatively play, dream, create and build temporary large-scale outcomes, supported by a team of 3 highly experienced SA artists – Tech Mates.
Working with a range of materials each child is invited to take control of the direction and narrative of their play experiences. Each Tech Mate functions as a support person to the child’ creative inspiration and imaginative proposals. They help stick things together, make the outcomes structurally sound and the activities safe.
Through its unique interdisciplinary and open workspace approach, Tech Mate opens a space for the imaginative exploration of sculptural forms, innovative outcomes and endless possibilities.
