Kingston Weaving is a community weaving project by the Boandik artists Sonya, Sarah and Suzy Smith in Kinsgton. Limestone Coast, South East South Australia.Focussing on the cultural representation of animal totems, Kingston Weaving aims to raise awareness of the natural environment by embedding First Nations knowledge back into the community through an openly engaging grass-roots workshop, yarning and making process. Local participants will access new ways of thinking and doing whilst taking part in the design and creation of a large-scale temporary public artwork of cultural and enduring significance.
